Easter, part 1

I have never colored Easter eggs. Isn't that weird? Well, maybe I did but I have no memory of it. So this year I decided to color them with Molly. There is nothing like doing something with your child that you remember enjoying yourself. Case in point: I love watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood with Molly. I remember loving everything about him, his blue tennis shoes, his sweaters that always zipped, his lovely songs--Honestly, how could you not love someone who came up with these lyrics: "It's you I like, it's not the things you wear, it's not the way you do your hair, but it's you I like!" So great. Anyway, I love seeing Molly enjoy him because I did too. But it's a whole other enjoyment to do something for the first time with Molly. Something I always wanted to do but never did. It was great.

The final result:

Here's Molly holding the "lallow" one.

We just used the cheapy PAAS dye kit. I think next year we will have to experiment with tissue paper, since I hear that's the new thing. I'm so not a crafty person so this may be the extent of it.

We also did an egg hunt at the park. I pictured this as eggs hidden in trees, behind rocks, etc. When we got there we found that for the younger kids there were just roped off areas, with eggs just spread all over the ground.

It looked pretty but wasn't what I imagined. I later found out this is pretty much how all public egg hunts are run, so at least we know for next time. When the horn blew it took maybe 10 seconds for the eggs to be gone. But Molly thought it was great, after her initial nervousness, so it all turned out fine.

Amos, of course, was his quiet observant self so it's hard to know exactly what he thought, but I think he had fun watching all the goings-on. Plus Molly was nice enough to give him a piece of candy from one of her eggs. And knowing how much she loves her candy, that was a big sacrifice for her.

You never got to color Easter Eggs as a child? How sad. I remember doing this when I was a kid. I'm sure it was very special, then, sharing it with your little 1s. It was the 1st time for all of you. Lol!
I remember going to the Easter Egg hunts when I was a kid. I also remember seeing you @ 1 of them. Lol! So I know you @ least got to do that. Hehehe. I don't remember if the littler kid hunts were like this 1 you described though. I do remember for our age group, we were about 7 or 8 @ that time, they were a little bit more concealed then that. We actually had to look for them behind trees & stuff.
I remember taking a neighbor kid to a hunt @ my church. He's a little slow with his motor skills. So I was going to have him compete with kids a little younger, to be fair. But he insisted on competing with kids his own age. So against my better judgement, I let him. Those kids were so fast. He didn't get 1. Not even 1. I felt so bad for him. Usually I'm pretty good @ handling situations like this with kids. But he had a complete meltdown, & I really had no idea how to respond. Luckily, our Children's Pastor's wife came over & gave all of their 1 year-old's eggs to Joshua. This seemed to make him feel a lot better. Thank God for wonderful ppls like Rebecca. She said that their daughter, Julia, was too young to really appreciate them, anyways, & wouldn't miss them. So it all worked out.
Anyways, I'm glad you & your family had a good Easter.
