Yearning for the bus

The other day I was trying to get the kids ready to leave for the store. Molly wanted to play with her umbrella outside so I told her she could go out on the porch while I finished getting things ready. A couple minutes later I hear her scream, from definitely farther away than the porch, "Hey! Wait!!!" I look out the door and all I see is her running down the driveway as a fast as she can, with her backpack in hand trying to get on the school bus that stops in front of our house. She really, truly thought she would be able to get on. The funniest part to me is that she took the time to run in and grab her backpack first. It was so cute and so sad because of course the bus drove away and she cried like her heart was breaking. We talked about how you have to be older to go on the bus, how the bus takes you to school, etc. Later in the day she told me she could go on the bus now because she is growing! I seriously love this girl.
