In the lane, snow is NOT glistening (anymore).

Arctic blast 2008 is officially over. I know it is because this morning the Today show was back on instead of the insane extended coverage which included reporters at random spots throughout the city saying, "Yes, we have snow here too." Wow. After the first couple days you could tell the anchors were going on no sleep because they started to get a little punchy. It was great entertainment, really. But let's take a little trip down memory lane, just to relive this wonderful experience.
Here we are last Sunday night with snow coming down, all pretty in the street light.

Bryan and I were watching a movie and we both kept staring at the window watching the snow fall. And fall. And fall. Forever. The next day there was close to 2 feet, including what had already been on the ground before.

Sunday afternoon we walked to the park across the street and had some swinging in the snow.

There were actually a lot of people there. I think this made people realize how absolutely crazy you can go by having to stay inside for days on end. At first it was fun, and let me be honest, I think without two toddlers it would have been a tad more enjoyable. Maybe it's a good thing, it made me really grateful to run errands when I finally got out to drive. I was talking to my friend about Christmas coming and how it is usually so nice to sit and relax for a day. This year, I really wanted to run some errands and maybe go to Costco to roam around and get samples.

Here are the icicles Molly begged us to take down so she could eat every day.

Since the snow ruined our original Christmas Eve plans we made the trek to Peacock Lane. This is a street in Portland close to SE 39th and Stark with these great old houses that all put lights up for Christmas. Both Bryan and I remember going as children and every year we say we will go and never end up doing it. So, this is one of those things that you remember as awesome and then you go and it's...just okay. Kind of cheesy but still totally fun, especially because the kids think it's, of course, awesome. I do think the snow added some atmosphere to the whole thing. I really recommend this if you have young kids.

Here we are at the first house on the block. It took ten minutes to get them away from the reindeer that moved.

A nice lady took our picture under this lovely archway. Yes, it's crooked! Not sure what Amos is doing here, but check out his face, it's pretty sweet.

Amos needed to touch each light bulb, and also count the Santas.

And the perfect end to the night? Opening up Christmas jammies. I was impressed by how excited they were and had a satisfying moment of I Told You So with Bryan, who didn't believe me that Christmas jammies were A Big Deal. Amos is sporting monkeys fishing from the moon, Molly has stockings, presents, and kitties. They both were enamored with the two pockets and filled them with cars (Amos) and chapstick (Molly).
