76 Trombones Led the Big Parade

What is it about marching bands? I really can't get enough of them. This weekend we went downtown for Rose Festival. We started out going on the navy ships.

Next we rode down the waterfront to see the dragon boat races.

Here is Molly watching the races. She was quite concerned that they didn't say Ready, Set, Go to start the race. They only blew a horn.

Next another ride back up the waterfront to watch the parade. I am a sucker for a good parade. I remember going to this parade once when I was little and loving it. My parents are most decidedly not parade people so we only went the one time.

Check out this lady, she is a member of the One More Time Around band, which is basically people trying to relive their high school marching band glory.

She was awesome, this is who I want to be when I grow up. Someone who says, "I'm 65 with gray hair and wrinkles but I'm still putting on my sparkly leg warmers, marching in a parade while twirling my baton."

Then she pulled her lipgloss OUT OF HER BRA and reapplied it right there while she was marching. Classic! Gotta look pretty.

And here we are on the way back to the car where I nearly died pulling the trailer up a hill, that's 80 pounds there with both kids inside. Bryan said the trailer "wouldn't fit" on his bike. Hmmmm.

Wouldn't fit? That's a good one. He's toast. I make Brad haul the kids behind him, otherwise we would never get anywhere. I love marching bands, too. My favorite part is the drums. Lip Gloss Grannie rocks!

I want to sign up for the One more time around band, or whatever it was called. Tell Molly I would totally be concerned as well. Can you truly be ready to go with out those three words?

Please tell Jake to join, that would be so great. What instrument does he play, just so I can get a good picture in my head.
