We're right. We're free. We'll fight. You'll see.

Today I was driving in the car with the kids. We listen to lots of music in the car, some mine, some theirs. But today a true treasure came on the radio.
Here we have Twisted Sister in the video for We're Not Gonna Take It. Seriously, what are they? The curly wig and makeup? It's a mystery to me. But at one time I loved this video.

Don't worry, there is a back story.

I think I was 10 or 11 when my parents had cable tv for a very short time. I'm not sure exactly why this was, since we quickly went back to only network channels and no cable again until I was in college. I think my parents were a bit naive about what we were watching (MTV). For some reason, we loved this song and video, but couldn't care less about any other videos. So we would turn on the MTV and play around, keeping one eye on the tv in case our fave song came on. It began with a dad asking his son, "What do you want to do with your life?" To which he replies, "I wanna ROCK!" At that point we would turn it up, dance, and do insane air guitar. It was truly a bonding experience. I know if my parents had seen this the cable tv would have disappeared much, much sooner.

I haven't heard this song in years, but it made me so happy to hear it and remember how much fun it was to share something with my brothers, in between all the bickering.

Now I'm thinking I will make Molly's new nickname Twisted Sister.
