Fashion concsious

I get a perverse sort of pleasure from seeing my kids in ugly outfits. I love waiting in the morning to see what Molly will pick to wear. Will it be the bright green M&M t-shirt with pink pants? Or perhaps she will choose to commit that cardinal sin--stripes on stripes. Love it. I love seeing people look at her and laugh when they see the shorts combined with church shoes. Is this bad?
And I'm so excited because now Amos is getting into the action. I had to take a picture of this outfit:

Onesie with a tie
Shorts pulled up to grampa height
Black socks

Oh yeah. All he needs is some sandals to go with those socks and he'd be set. It reminds me of this song I sing all the time because it makes Bryan laugh:

Blaaaaack socks, they never get dirty;
The longer I wear them
The stronger they get!
Sooooometimes I think I should wash them
But something inside me keeps saying
Not yet!

It's a great song.
And here is Molly washing the car, with Spiderman underwear and yes, the shiny black church shoes.
She decided after her shirt got wet that she would just go with the underwear alone. Notice the crotch flap on the underwear since they are boys underwear. Honestly, why don't they make any girls underwear with cool stuff on it? Why do they assume every girl likes only Dora and Disney princesses?

Hooray for boys underwear because it stays where it should...comfortably covering each cheek. I'm with you on the Dora and Princess thing...I hate them all. I think letting your kids pick out grotesquely ugly outfits is wonderful, I just can't do it. Well, the control freak in me can't do it. But I love seeing other people's kids committing fashion suicide. Sweeet!

Letting your kids pick out ugly clothing doesn't make you bad. Especially @ their age. None of their friends care. It's 1 of the joys of being a parent. Enjoy it now, because before you know it, fashion will become 1 of their top priorities.
